Saqi Actor Pictures Interview Biography
First film: Iltija (Urdu - 1955)
Last film: Dushmani (Punjabi - 1990)
Saqi was a verstile artist, knew many languages and worked in more than 450 films in his career. He was the brother of Abdul Kareem Balouch, ex-MD of Karachi Television. At the beginning of his career he became hero of some films like Lakhpati (Nighat Sultana 1958), Sassi Panoon (Sindhi) with Nighat Sultana 1958 and Bombay wala (with Nighat Sultana 1961), could not be succeeded as hero but later became a good villion and character actor. He made film "Papi" in 1968 (Bano, Sitara, Shakeel and Shaheena) but the film was screened only one day, totally failure. Saqi produced an another film "Hamlog" in 1970 which had two child artists Jugnu and Murad in main roles and without any typical pair of hero/heroine. This film was an average film on box office.
Other famous films: Nagin (1959), Alladin ka Beta (1960), Taj aur Talwar and Bara bajey (1961), Shaheed, Mousiqar and Ek manzil do rahen (1962), Main ne kia jurm kia and Aurat ek kahani (1963), Beti, Shatranj, Nahley peh dehla and Ek dil do deewaney (1964), Hazar daastan (1965), Parda, Woh koun thi and Naghma-e-Sahra (1966), Sajda, Lakhon main ek and Yateem (1967), Mera Ghar meri Jannat and Wali Ehad (1968), CID and Door ki awaz (1969), Zarqa, Naseeb apna apna, Hamlog and Yousuf khan Sher Bano (1970), Dosti (1971), Nadya ke paar (1973) and Main bani dulhan (1973).
Saqi's real name was Abdul Latif Baloch and he died on December 22, 1986. He married Pashto films top heroine Yasmin Khan. Saqi introduced two top mail singers Masood Rana and Mujeeb Alam to the Pakistani film industry from Karachi. (by Mohammed Ayub Qureshi) |
